frequently asked questions

Will you do commissions? Can you draw this for me? Do you do requests?
I have a large volume of artwork I have to complete for my own projects, so unfortunately I can't accept personal requests.

I'm an artist. Can you give me advice/critique?

To be honest, I dislike giving critique, and the only advice I dispense is to keep practicing. I'm not a good teacher or mentor by any means. I have no wisdom or sage words to offer. Sorry!

I'd like a print of this picture. Can you sell it to me?

Yes and No! Selected works can be purchased from my deviantART shop as prints, postcards, coasters, and more. If you don't see a particular piece you'd like a print of, you can contact me, but I don't sell prints of fanart. I don't wish to make profit off of anything depicting copyrighted characters. This means I will not sell prints of my Simpsons, Futurama, or Calvin & Hobbes art.

Can you tell me what materials you use?

Paper: 8.5" x 11" card stock paper for printers and copiers.
Drawing: mechanical pencil.
Inking: Rapidograph technical pens, india ink with a cheap asian brush.
Colours (traditional): Copic Markers, Prismacolor pencil crayons, Dr. Ph. Martin's opaque white ink.
Colours (digital): Photoshop 7, Painter 8, Wacom Intuos 2 graphics tablet.

Do you have stories to share or advice to give regarding art school?

I didn't attend art school. I did go to an animation school for a year (more out of obligation than choice), but the program was a series of crash courses specifically structured to train animators and is far from what a general art school is like. I have no experience with art schools, so I have nothing to say about them. I do, however, highly recommend taking life drawing classes.

I've read the FAQ but my question hasn't been answered!

I'm sometimes too busy to reply to every piece of e-mail I get and there may be a delay in response, but I'll try my best. I mean no offense; as a one-person operation, I have my limits. The shorter and more concise your e-mail is, the easier it is for me to answer. Words of appreciation or support are always welcome. Thank you!
