completed February 2006 created with Painter 8, Photoshop 7 Kouran, a young 6'8" kitsune woman, fights the White Serpent on Halloween night. They battle in air above Kouran's school campus, which is surrounded by mountains. Wherever the dragon is touched by her hands and feet, blue flames appear. I never draw dragons, so coming up with the design for this one was both fun and challenging. The overall composition of the image reminded me of a Chinese brush painting, so instead of "regular" CG mountains in the background, I painted them in a simple brush style. I'm satisfied with how this picture came out, though it would've looked better if I could've done an actual brush painting in the back. I ran into some trouble while doing this piece. It was put on hiatus for a few months due to chronic wrist pain, which was later diagnosed as mild tendonitis.
